Lu Harris
The Napa Valley, where Lu grew up, continues to influence her work. The vineyards of Italy and France have also colored her palette and strengthened the flavor of the wine and grape motif that has become such an important part of her art imagery. Lu absorbed the Old World charm found in the cities and countryside of Europe, while traveling in Italy, France, Spain, and the Greek Islands. She then transposed the charm of the small quaint shops of Europe into her studio/gallery, The Studio at Opera Alley, which she owned and operated for 6 years in Old Town Manassas. Lu embraces many areas of the Arts, including pastels and mixed media, while teaching classes and workshops. Currently, she has been exploring “surface textile design,” using her artwork for textiles and wrapping paper, along with hand-dyeing and eco-printing on silk, cotton, and paper. Lu’s work may be seen in shows in the DC area, and at what is now a virtual studio/gallery, The Studio at Opera Alley.
